Carey Farquhar

Dr. Carey Farquhar, MD, MPH, is the Associate Chair for Academic Programs in the Department of Global Health and a Professor at the University of Washington (UW) jointly appointed in the Departments of Global Health, Medicine, and Epidemiology.

She has published more than 160 peer-reviewed papers and her research interests include HIV testing and partner notification in the general population and among persons who inject drugs, HIV prevention among discordant couples, cardiovascular disease risk factors among HIV-infected adults, and mother-to-child HIV transmission.

Dr. Farquhar is the Director of the UW Kenya Research and Training Center and multiple international training programs, including the International AIDS Research and Training Program and Afya Bora Consortium Fellowship in Global Health Leadership. She also teaches 3 courses in the School of Public Health, sees HIV-infected patients one half-day per week, and attends on the wards at Harborview Medical Center.
